Job description

Background

This project aims to develop a cutting-edge platform focused on the rapid testing and integration of systems, sensors, and algorithms for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operating in swarming formations. By harnessing advanced technologies and innovative methodologies, the platform will facilitate accelerated development cycles and efficient integration processes. The core mission is to enhance the capabilities of UAS swarms, optimizing their coordination, communication, and collective intelligence. This initiative will not only push the boundaries of UAS technology but also provide vital insights and tools for various applications, ranging from surveillance and environmental monitoring to disaster response and agricultural assessment.Assignment

You will work on the design and subsequent prototype of a software package on the UAVs and a monitor and control software environment. Key is that this environment enables easy monitoring, control and deployment of a large number of UAVs.

Assignment

You will work on the design and subsequent prototype of a software package on the UAVs and a monitor and control software environment. Key is that this environment enables easy monitoring, control and deployment of a large number of UAVs.

Result

  • A monitor and control interface for deployment, controlling and monitoring of multiple UAVs
  • A software package for the UAV that talks to ground stations
  • A minimum of 3 UAVs that work in a (simple)swarming formation via the platform

Duration

6 months

Profile

  • Graduation internship for HBO Mechatronics or (technical) Computer Science
  • Experience with C, C#, C++, Python and/or ROS2
  • Experience in HMI development
  • Affinity with UAS control systems (Mavlink)
  • Affinity with edge computing (e.g. Jetson platform)
  • Experience with building UAVs is a plus
  • Assertive and self-motivated, able to be part of the project team and also proceed individually

What we offer

  • A challenging graduation project/internship in a high-tech result orientated work environment
  • Weekly supervision and availability of the technical staff for support
  • An internship allowance
  • Working in an actual R&D project as part of the team
  • Internship results to be used in the current and future projects
